The Southern Wonders Expedition: From Santiago to Patagonia
10 DAYS - 9 NIGHTS

The Southern Wonders Expedition

From the Andes to Patagonia

This unforgettable journey takes you through some of the most iconic and diverse landscapes of Chile and Argentina, combining vibrant cities and the raw beauty of Patagonia.

Your adventure begins in Santiago de Chile, a dynamic capital framed by the Andes. Discover the city’s rich history and modern charm on a guided city tour, exploring its main highlights and local neighborhoods. Then, venture on a full-day experience to the Pacific coast, visiting the colorful hills of Valparaíso and the elegant seaside city of Viña del Mar, where ocean views, street art, and coastal vibes create a perfect contrast to the capital.

From there, travel south into the heart of Patagonia to Torres del Paine National Park, one of the most breathtaking natural reserves in the world. Staying inside the park allows you to fully immerse yourself in its dramatic scenery. Enjoy guided treks through pristine landscapes of turquoise lakes, granite peaks, and vast open valleys, with opportunities to spot native wildlife along the way.

Crossing into Argentina, you will arrive in El Calafate, gateway to the legendary Los Glaciares National Park. Witness the awe-inspiring Perito Moreno Glacier, one of the few advancing glaciers on Earth, where massive ice walls constantly calve into the waters below. The journey continues with an exploration of the Cerro Castillo area, a hidden gem offering incredible panoramic views, peaceful lagoons, and the chance to observe Andean condors soaring above the Patagonian steppe.

As the tour unfolds, you will explore some of Santiago’s most vibrant and character-filled neighborhoods. Day 3 - Viña del Mar and Valparaiso

Today, you will leave Santiago behind and head towards the Pacific coast for a full-day exploration of two of Chile’s most iconic seaside destinations: Viña del Mar and Valparaíso.

Your journey begins with a scenic drive through the Casablanca Valley, one of Chile’s renowned wine regions, known for its vineyards and cool-climate wines.

Upon arrival in Valparaíso, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you will discover a city unlike any other. Famous for its colorful hillside houses, artistic spirit, and labyrinth of narrow streets, Valparaíso is a living open-air museum. Explore its historic hills, ride one of its traditional funiculars, and admire vibrant street art that tells the story of the city’s unique identity and bohemian soul.

Continue to Viña del Mar, known as the “Garden City,” where elegant avenues, coastal views, and beautiful parks create a more refined and relaxed atmosphere. Walk along the seaside, visit its iconic landmarks, and enjoy the refreshing ocean breeze.

Day 4 - Santiago de Chile - Puerto Natales - Torres del Paine

At the scheduled time, you will be transferred to Santiago de Chile Airport to board your flight to Puerto Natales, gateway to the majestic Torres del Paine region.

Upon arrival, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel located inside Torres del Paine National Park: Hotel Las Torres.

The journey from Puerto Natales to the park takes approximately 2 hours, offering your first glimpse of Patagonia’s vast landscapes, with endless plains, distant mountain ranges, and unique wildlife along the way.

Hotel Las Torres enjoys a privileged location at the base of the iconic towers, right within a private reserve inside the national park. Its strategic position allows direct access to some of the park’s most famous trekking routes, including the trail to the Base of the Towers viewpoint.

Surrounded by mountains, rivers, and native forests, the hotel offers a truly immersive Patagonian experience, combining comfort with immediate connection to nature in one of the most spectacular settings in the world.

After check-in, the rest of the day is at leisure to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Day 5 -Viewpoint las Torres

Today is at leisure to explore Torres del Paine National Park at your own pace or to simply relax and enjoy the surroundings of your hotel.

We highly recommend taking on one of the most iconic and rewarding hikes in Patagonia: the trek to Base Las Torres Viewpoint.

This full-day hike is considered one of the most spectacular trails in the park. The route covers approximately 18–20 km (round trip) and usually takes between 7 to 9 hours, depending on your pace. The trail begins directly from Hotel Las Torres, making it easily accessible from your accommodation.

The hike starts with a gradual ascent through the Ascencio Valley, crossing rivers and passing through lenga forests, before reaching the final and most challenging section: a steep climb over a rocky moraine. The effort is absolutely worth it.

At the top, you will be rewarded with an unforgettable view of the three granite towers rising dramatically above a turquoise glacial lagoon—one of the most iconic landscapes in all of Patagonia.

We recommend starting early in the morning, bringing layered clothing, water, snacks, and proper hiking gear, as weather conditions in Patagonia can change quickly.

Alternatively, both the national park and Hotel Las Torres’ program offer a wide variety of trails for different difficulty levels, as well as options for horseback riding or simply enjoying the scenery from the comfort of the hotel.

For a different perspective, horseback riding is a fantastic option to experience Patagonia’s traditions while riding through valleys, rivers, and open plains accompanied by local guides.

Alternatively, we highly recommend visiting the Grey Glacier area, where you can admire the immense ice mass from different viewpoints along the shores of Grey Lake, or even opt for a boat navigation (optional) to get closer to the glacier’s striking blue ice walls.

Whether you prefer adventure or relaxation, today offers the flexibility to tailor your experience and fully connect with the natural beauty of Patagonia.

Upon arrival, you will explore the network of panoramic walkways facing the glacier. From different balconies and viewpoints, you will be able to admire the immense ice wall stretching over 5 km wide and rising up to 70 meters above the lake. The constant cracking sounds and the chance to witness massive ice blocks calving into the water make this a truly unforgettable experience.

To complement the visit, you will embark on the Safari Náutico navigation, a one-hour boat excursion that takes you across the waters of Lago Rico, offering a close-up view of the glacier’s towering ice walls. From the boat, you will fully appreciate the scale, colors, and textures of the glacier—an entirely different perspective from the walkways.
