The Iguazu Falls is one of the natural wonders of South America. You cannot miss it! Just a few days are enough for a getaway. Complete the visit to Iguazu spending a few days in Ibera Wetlands. Due to its unique geography and difficult access, the area has a rich and varied animal population. Without a doubt, ecotourism has given the Iberá Wetlands a physiognomy as a true paradise of wildlife where you can coexist with an ecosystem in full expansion and development of animal and plant species. It is thanks to tourism and conservationist awareness that the Iberá Wetlands can be fully enjoyed.

Day 1 - Arrival Puerto Iguazu

Start point Puerto Iguazu Airport (IGR) or Foz de Iguazu Airport (IGU) , Aeropuerto Internacional de Puerto Iguazú (IGR), Ruta Provincial 101 s/n, Puerto Iguazú, Misiones N3370, Argentina 06:00 - 23:00

Welcome to Iguazu Falls!! A transfer will be waiting for you at Puerto de Iguazu airport (IGR) ready to take to your hotel in the Argentinian side. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax at the hotel

Optional Excursion Recommended: The Argentine Dinner Experience 

At night a transfer will pick you up to enjoy an atypical dinner experience where you will learn about the Argentine culture, taste fantastic local dishes, drink exceptional wine, and mingle with fellow travelers in a fun setting:

This is a five main course dinner which includes: 

Welcome: Wine- base cocktail and a Patagonia trout tartar.

Empanadas: You will learn how to make your own empanadas. Fillings are beef stew or capresse (cheese mozzarella and provolone, roasted cherries tomatoes and basil)

Picada: Typical Argentine cuts of meat to nibble. 

Main Course: 200 grs of tenderloin accompanied by roasted vegetables 

Desserts: Tasting of sweets and cheeses. 

Mate tasting and alfajores class dulce de leche mousse. After dinner we go back to our hotel.

Day 2 - Visit Argentinian Side of the Falls

Today we will visit the argentinian side of the falls, where we will enjoy of this amazing views from different angles and perspectives. Entering through the visitor center, several walks are carried out in the jungle to admire the giants of this green world, the jungle that gives us its aromas, its colors, its freshness, a unique contact with this increasingly scarce biome in the world. The walkways offer wonderful visits to the falls and the opportunity to be in contact with the fauna. From colorful insects like dragonflies, butterflies, and beetles; the curious coatis and monkeys; great variety of birds such as magpies, jotes and toucans; and there are days when we are surprised by the timid look of a roe deer, a capybara or even a puma watching the pass from the edge of the mountain. A ride on the narrow gauge train completes Las Delicias for adults and children, it is a service that links the 3 different circuits or walkways of the National Park; lower, upper and devil’s throat.

The always satisfied visitor is the goal, with joy to the fullest, accompanied by the best guides who know secrets, legends and anecdotes that will make the visit to this world heritage site and one of the 7 wonders of the world more complete. You can also combine the walks with optional water rides or a Jungle Safari. Then we go back to our accommodation.

Optional Excursion Recommended: The Great Adventure 

It is carried out in conjunction with the Excursion Cataratas Argentinas, within the PNI. The Great Adventure combines the essence of the Iguazú National Park: the jungle and the Waterfalls in a single route.

Starting from the Operative Central or from the Visitor Center, you will enter the jungle through the narrow Yacaratiá Trail in units designed for this particular environment. Bilingual guides (Spanish / English) will help to interpret the natural and cultural riches of the place.

This 5 km vehicular route culminates in the Puerto Macuco jungle base. After descending 100 meters you will arrive at the dock where you can board the boats with which you will go up 6 km up the Lower Iguazú river gorge towards the waterfall area enjoying the mighty rapids, to the base of the Tres Mosqueteros waterfall, watching the set of Brazilian waterfalls Argentines, with the Devil’s Throat crowning the view of the canyon. Later, you will reach the maximum point of emotion when facing the incomparable Salto San Martín, second in size and the largest that a boat can approach.

To finish, we will disembark at the dock located in front of San Martín Island from where you can rejoin the walkway system, through the Lower Circuit. The Great Adventure can be done in the opposite direction. That is, from the pier located in front of San Martín Island to the Visitor Center.

Day 3 - Visit Brazilian Side of the Falls

Excursion through the Brazilian Falls, visiting a traditional footbridge with wonderful panoramic views. The extension of the walkways is 1,200 meters from where you get a spectacular panoramic view of the 275 falls that make up the Iguazu Falls, of which the most important on the Brazilian side are 4: Floriano, Deodoro, Benjamin Constant and Salto Unión or Garganta of the Devil. After the tour, you have access to the panoramic elevator that allows you to reach the bus that will leave us again at the access portal. Then we go back to our hotel in the Argentinian Side.

Optional Excursion Recommended: Bird Park

The Bird Park is a private enterprise, located in one of the most beautiful regions on Av. Das Cataratas Km 17.1 near the Iguacu National Park (Brazil). Visitors have the opportunity to enter the nurseries to learn about the life of the birds. A world of colors made up of exotic and colorful tropical birds fly in spacious nurseries embedded in the lush tropical humid forest. In addition to birds, alligators, anacondas, boas, marmosets and butterflies amaze tourists.

The Park offers a wide structure with a lot of comfort and practicality, favoring the ecological environment of the place. The trails of the Park offer conditions to receive people with different capacities, wheelchairs. Optional service that can be carried out after the Excursion to Brazilian Falls, departing after lunch or in the “Private” mode of transfer. In both modalities it does not include income.

Day 4 - San Ignacio Ruins - Posadas

After breakfast we will start travelling along National Route No. 12 enjoying the landscape of the region, passing through small cities, towns and plantations, reaching the imposing Jesuit Ruins (located 240 km. From the city of Puerto Iguazu). Built in the 17th century, during the stay of the Jesuit Missionaries in this region. The visit is accompanied by a local guide, who will explain to the visitors the construction, life and customs of the Guarani aborigines and their catechization by the Jesuits.

Then we continue to our accommodation in Posadas, where we will spend the night.

Day 5 - Posadas - Ibera Wetlands

At the indicated time a transfer will pick us up at our accommodation in Posadas to start our way to Iberá Wetlands.

Located in the Argentinean province of Corrientes, “Esteros del Ibera” is one of the most important protected wetlands in South America, with 15,000 Km2 as Provincial Park and 10% as National Park. We will arrive on time to enjoy the birds and nature at the feeders of Iberá Birding Lodge.

Day 6 - Ibera Wetlands, Portal Navegation

The next morning, we ventured into one of the main entrances to the majestic Esteros del Iberá, a vast wetlands ecosystem in Argentina. We embarked on an excursion that will take us to navigate through the winding channels and lagoons of this unique natural environment, where wildlife thrives in its wildest state.

Day 7 - Ibera Wetlands

In the morning, we enjoyed the facilities of the Lodge, with its lagoon, bamboo forest, and the reserve surroundings. In the afternoon, we headed out to the region’s lagoons, many of which are located along the route and are easily accessible.

Enjoy a full day of birdwatching in the Iberá National Park, in Cambyretá. 

Day 8 - Ibera Wetlands - Posadas

In the morning, we embark on the return journey to Posadas Airport where we will take our flight back.
