Upon arrival we transfer from El Calafate airport to our accommodation. The rest of the day is al leisure to visit the city or to do any optional excursion that this increible place has to offer us.

Accommodation in El Calafate - Double or Single Base

    Meals: None

Optional Excursion Recommended: "Nativo Experience with Lunch or Dinner"

Lago Argentino is the third largest lake in South America, surrounded by mountains and nourished by giant glaciers, this lake never ceases to amaze its own and strangers for its immensity and special colour.

Was precisely that blue colour, the mountains covered in white and a celestial heaven also what motivated Francisco P. Moreno to baptize him. Other members of the expedition arrived earlier, and many more were on the road as they attempted to go up the Santa Cruz River. It was so in the case of Darwin and Fitz Roy, who abandoned the odyssey by the endlessness of the landscape and the fearful vigil of the natives.

It is an excursion in 4×4 along the coast of Lake Argentino. Ideal for the day of arrival or departure, it has an anthropological approach, making a tour at the time about the passing of man in these lands, rediscovering the stories of the first expeditions and daring that ventured into the unknown.

Between the cliffs and overlooking the Andes Mountains, the excursion focuses on the first contacts of those expeditionaries with the natives, and then enter the Tehuelche world.

On the banks of the lake are the caves where thousands of years ago that culture left its marks on the rock and that today induce us to its interpretation. Finally, the excursion culminates in another cave where lunch or dinner is included that will transport us to those remote years.

  • It is a full day excursion which consists of sightseeing of the Perito Moreno Glacier.

We will depart from El Calafate, go round the southern bank of Lago Argentino, past Bahia Redonda, where a great variety of avifauna can be seen. We will go along the Patagonic steppe during the first 40 km, and then enter Los Glaciares National Park, which is plenty of trees that are typical of this region such as the ones belonging to the family of Nothofagus (ñires, lengas, cohiues) and others such as calkers, notros and cinnamon trees.

Then we will go to “Bajo de las Sombras” port (at only 7 Km from the walkways), where we will get on board a ship to enjoy a  40-minute navigation from where we will able to see amazing views of Perito Moreno Glacier, an unforgettable experience.  At that point, you’ll also enjoy different and intense shades of blue and white colors, with capricious forms. After than we start our way back to El Calafate.

Optional Dinner Experience Recommended: Rancho Aparte Restaurant (Doors Closed)

Rancho Aparte experience will allow you to savor home-cooked meal in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The dishes are prepared with local products and a ubiquitous ingredient

    in homemade food...lots of love!

The menu is accompanied by selected wine pairings from Argentine and Patagonian wineries. Therefore, with each course we respect the aromas and flavors in a harmonious

and palatable way. It has four fixed menus; two of them "traditional". They are based on regional cuisine and adapt the local products to a journey of unforgettable flavors. The

other two menus are "vegetarians or vegans". They are designed so that those who choose this type of food can also enjoy this experience, where most of the ingredients used

are selected from organic farms in the area.

  • After breakfast, immerse yourself in the authentic Patagonian experience at Nibepo Aike, a traditional ranch. Spend the day exploring the estancia, learning about its rich history, and witnessing captivating gaucho demonstrations, including sheep shearing. Before lunch, enjoy a scenic walk or horseback ride to the narrows where Roca Lake gracefully flows into the vast Argentino Lake.

Culminate this unforgettable day with a renowned Patagonian lamb roast.

Upon arrival at the ranch, you'll be warmly welcomed with hot beverages and delicious fried cakes (torta frita) or homemade puddings. Engage in ranch life activities such as observing sheep milking and herding, and witnessing the impressive skill of the gauchos during the sheep shearing demonstration and rein testing.
